BrailleBox V5 specific features

Braille on cut sheet paper

Printing on cut sheet paper is the future. When the printing is finished the braille document is ready to be stapled and read. The paper out handling is easy and quick comparing with tractor-fed paper. Locally available office quality paper can be used.

Automatic Braille Tray Door

The braille tray door in BrailleBox V5 opens and closes automatically by pressing the DOOR key on the control panel.

Noise Canceling Design

As a self-contained unit, BrailleBox’s low noise levels are acceptable for working environment.

Optimized maintaining

All mechanical systems need maintaining. With Index embossers it is minimized to:

  • Cleaning the paper sensors from paper dust
  • Rubbing up the pick up rollers in Everest-D and BrailleBox
  • Cleaning paper dust from the solenoids
  • Upgrading the embosser firmware

Tactile graphics

All Index V5 printers support tactile graphics mixed with braille at the same page. Graphic images are generated by complimentary softwares.

Control panel

The control panel is the user interface which allows the user to setup and use embosser.

BrailleApp web interface

Index V5 printers support the BrailleApp user interface. It is probably the most intuative user interface on the market.

Acapela synthetic speech

In V5 embossers the speech feedback is generated by Acapela synthetic speech. This enables dynamic feedback when controlling the embosser.

Remote support

Via the remote support portal Index team and the distributors have access to selected Index V5 printers. The V5 printer should be connected to a network and upgraded to latest firmware.

idB: Index-direct-Braille

idB (Index-direct-Braille) opens the possibility to print standard files without an external braille editor. The file will be translated and formatted within the printer, following the active embosser layout.

Braille quality

The New Generation V5 solenoids introduced in October 2018, offers an excellent braille quality. The dot hight and form are maintained during hours of continuous printing.

Index V5 printers include USB port, port for USB memory stick, wired network, WiFi network and Bluetooth.
