“This relationship between [technology] tools and intellectual, spiritual and physical development is really powerful, I think, and it’s an important principle to grasp at the heart of education”
Watch this interview with Sir Ken Robinson and hear his views on creativity and technology in education and consider how this might be relevant to elearning in South African Schools and the ICT Policies in your school.
Essentially, technology is a set of tools that we use to help us accomplish tasks. Robinson talks about how throughout history tools have always done two things for humans, firstly they have extended our physical reach and allowed us to do things that we previously couldn’t do. The second crucial thing is that tools do is expand our minds and make it possible to think about doing things that we previously didn’t think were possible. This has very important implications for education and even innovation in South Africa as a whole.
